Directorate of Research and Medical Education (DRME), Punjab (Government Medical College (GMC) & Rajindra Hospital, Patiala) has released an official Public Notice (Ref: 2-ME-2-2024/10578 (Dated 03.09.2026)) inviting applications from eligible candidates for the recruitment of 066 Posts (Staff Nurse (Critical Care Block)).
Applications are invited for contractual appointment of 66 Staff Nurses for the Critical Care Block at Government Medical College (GMC) & Rajindra Hospital, Patiala for a tenure of one year on rates fixed by the Labour Commissioner, Punjab. Candidates who possess GNM diploma or B.Sc. Nursing with PNRC registration and 10th Punjabi passed are eligible to apply.

- Candidates must submit their application ONLINE first via www.punjabmedicaleducation.org and pay fee via eReceipt.
- Hard copy of the submitted online form along with self-attested copies of all testimonials (as per Checklist Annexure-B) and eReceipt must reach DRME Office, Medical Education Bhawan, 1st Floor, Sector 69, SAS Nagar (Mohali) on or before 14.09.2026 (5:00 PM).
- Applications can be submitted by hand on working days between 09:00 AM to 05:00 PM or sent by post.
- Application Fee: ₹500/- for General candidates and ₹250/- for SC/BC candidates. Fee must be paid online via eReceipt link on department website.

- Candidates must possess valid registration with Punjab Nursing Registration Council (PNRC) prior to the closing date (14.09.2026).
- Passing Punjabi at Matriculation (10th) level is compulsory for all candidates.
- Age Limit: 18 to 37 years as on 01.01.2026. Upper age relaxation: 5 years for SC/BC (up to 42 years), 10 years for PwD (up to 47 years), and service deduction + 3 years for Ex-Servicemen as per Punjab Govt rules.
- COVID-19 Experience: Candidates who served during the COVID-19 pandemic under Medical Education & Research Dept hospitals in Punjab can claim up to 10 marks by submitting the certificate in prescribed format (Annexure-A) signed by Director/Principal GMC Amritsar/Patiala.
- Higher education (e.g. M.Sc Nursing) will NOT carry any extra marks. Merit calculation is strictly based on GNM / B.Sc Nursing percentage.
- The number of posts can be increased or decreased as per department requirements.
